Looking for a trustworthy car mechanic to work on brakes and clutches?
It’s hard to name the most important safety features of a vehicle, but if we had to, brakes would certainly be at the top of the list.
Modern cars and road conditions put constant wear and tear on brakes and, if you drive a manual vehicle, on the clutch as well.
We have an in-house flywheel grinder (flywheel machine) available for all our customers when getting a new clutch fitted. Read more about our service for Brakes and Clutches.
We use and recommend Bendix brand brakes. Bendix have a long history in bringing innovation to brake products globally. Bendix manufacture their disc brake pads in the regional town of Ballarat in Victoria. We love the brand because of the high-quality products they make, including brake pads with a wear indicator. Not only does the reliable indicator give us definitive evidence that replacement is necessary, we can even show you the proof!
Asbestos is no longer used in braking systems (since 2000). While this is a good thing, it also means that brakes run hotter than they used to, requiring a different method of servicing.
Things our car mechanic will check for in a brake and clutch service are:
- Fluid leaks
- Brake hose
- Brake shoe/pad wear
- Brake drum/rotor wear
- Brake fluid
We’ll also check it over the general mechanical operation and hydraulic operation and will test ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes) if they are fitted. We don’t even forget your handbrake!
Due to the dangers of poor braking systems, there are strict and enforced legal requirements surrounding wear on rotors and drums. We never machine beyond legal limits so you are never at risk of being held liable in the event of an accident, hefty fines, or even being denied insurance cover.
